What you need to know about the Viennese population:
Viennese love their carbonated drinks. Carbonated water does not quench your thirst. I wanted apple juice, I got carbonated apple juice. Carbonation is everywhere!
Everyone smokes cigarettes. If you do not smell cigarette smoke while walking down the streets of Vienna then you might have gotten lost and are probably not in Vienna anymore. I’ve become great at holding my breath! The only litter I have seen in the city is cigarette butts.
They have coffee vending machines. For 1 Euro you can have a nice fresh espresso in seconds.
The wifi sucks, but maybe this is good for me!
They have fast food called noodles in a box. Need I say more?
The Viennese are a tough people that don’t like to smile a lot. They look at me weird and probably wonder why I laugh and smile so much.
They love meat.
Their food is very high quality even in the cheapest stores.
And man do they love their art, architecture and music. It shows in everything they do!
I am finally all settled in my dorm! I have started classes and had my first outing. It has been exactly one week since I got on my plane to Vienna and it feels like it’s already been a month because of how busy we’ve been. The first waves of homesickness have washed over me but each time I step into the city I realize how lucky I am to be here. We visited the Shunbrun Palace and it was amazing. It’s extremely hard to picture the life of royalty being a real and true way of living. Walking the halls of the palace really brought a sense of history and reality to the trip.
